Object Oberon

Object Oberon is an extension of the Oberon programming language, which is a descendant of Modula-2 and Modula-3. It provides object-oriented features such as classes, inheritance, dynamic dispatching, and garbage collection. Object Oberon was designed for use with the AOS (Active Object System) framework that was also developed by the creators of Oberon at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. AOS combines parallelism with object orientation to allow for easy creation of concurrent applications without explicit use of threads or locks. The language has been used in system software development and educational environments where simplicity in design and high degree of safety are important factors.
